Sigiriya

We stayed near by at Aliya Resort

Our new love country! Why -The humble people, beauty and simplicity.. We travelled from Colombo by private driver to the ancient rock fort, from afar the mound seemed impossible to climb especially with 12kgs of dead weight. As we loomed closer the sweat began to trickle, the crowds grew bigger and the rock face came into focus.. locals scattered through the ruins offering to carry our pumba at a fee, but I wasn’t ready to hand my most prized possession to a stranger who smelt of alcohol. I did see some parents with tour guides who watched the children at the midway point, it seemed like a good idea afterwards.

Nature really has created some remarkable ornaments, this one was particularly impressive! We battled our way through the mass tourist crowds to each tier taking in its magnificence… It was all worth it but we were stuffed, and in need of a cold Lion draft.

Price: $60USD 2Adults

Time: 1hr 20 with baby

Time of the Day: We were a little late, I think climbing at sunrise would be better we did it at 10:30 and it was stifling!
